Categories and units
Open Settings → Categories & units to see the category tree for your shop type, add subcategories, and request a new category when the list does not have what you need.
What you see
- Live categories — already approved for your shop type.
- Subcategories — you can add these yourself under an existing category.
- Pending requests — categories you asked for that are still waiting for review.
Request a new category
Use this when your product type is missing from the list (for example a new segment for your shop type).
- Open Settings → Categories & units.
- Tap Add category (or similar).
- Enter the category name and optional short description.
- Submit.
What happens next
- Your request is saved with status Pending.
- The LocalShopWala team gets a notice.
- The team reviews your request.
- If approved, the category is created for your shop type (with a default subcategory). Open that category in the list to see the subcategory. You can then assign products to it.
- If rejected, you see the reason in your pending list.
You cannot use a pending category on products until it is approved.
Add a subcategory (no review needed)
- Expand a live category.
- Tap Add subcategory.
- Enter the name and save.
Subcategories under an approved category do not need review.
Tips
- Pick a clear, short category name — spelling may be fixed when approved.
- Do not submit the same name twice while one request is still pending.
- If a category already exists for your shop type, use it instead of requesting again.
