Online order stock hold

When online orders hold stock, and how that affects Billing.

Last updated: 2026-08-30

Online order stock hold

When a customer places an online order, the app keeps that stock aside so it is not sold twice at the counter.

This guide is for shopkeepers using Online Orders in LocalShopWala.

Before you start

  1. Keep order notifications enabled.
  2. Open the correct shop.
  3. Use reject or cancel with a clear reason when you cannot fulfil an order.

When stock is held

  1. The hold starts when the customer places the order (Pending) — not when you accept.
  2. Accept keeps that hold. If you use Accept available items, the hold is reduced to the items you accept.
  3. Reject, Cancel, or an expired hold releases the stock again.
  4. Make bill and Complete use the held stock, then take it out of on-hand stock.

What you should do

  1. Do not sell held stock at the counter for a different customer.
  2. If Billing warns that stock is held for online orders, lower the qty or finish / cancel those online orders first.
  3. After cancel or reject, check inventory if you need the latest free stock.

What happens next?

Order status and stock hold change with each step (accept, bill, complete, cancel).
